Brighton graduate Dylan Burnett named head soccer coach at Mississippi college

A former standout athlete and high school coach from Tipton County recently earned his first college head coaching position. 

Dylan Burnett was named the new men’s soccer coach last month at Mississippi University for Women. 

Burnett played soccer and was the kicker for the football team at Brighton High School from 2008 to 2010. He also served as the head soccer coach for the boys’ and girls’ teams at Munford High School from 2015 to 2017. 

He spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons on the women’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi. From 2013-2014 he was a volunteer student assistant strength and conditioning coach at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee. Burnett also previously interned with the Mississippi State University football strength and conditioning team.

In 2010 he was a kicker for Mississippi State. He later transferred to Lincoln Memorial and played soccer there until graduating in 2014.
