A pair of Covington High football rising seniors will get the opportunity to perform in the most well-known NFL stadium later this month.

Eli Patrick, an offensive tackle, and Andrew Scott, an outside linebacker, will take part in the All-American Super Combine June 29-30 at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The event is one of six combines being held across the country this month. Patrick and Scott attended a combine earlier this year in Nashville and, because of their performance there, were invited to the Super Combine in Arlington, Texas.

“I thought it was a great opportunity and we needed to take it,” Patrick said when asked what he thought when he got the invite.

“Being able to be in an NFL stadium is pretty cool,” Scott said. “The competition is going to be great … It’s going to be unreal.”

“I think it’s an honor for them to get to go and a reflection of the hard work they’ve put in,” said Covington head coach J.R. Kirby. “Also, it gets Covington on the map other than locally and around the state. They’ll get to compete against other kids and see how they measure up. It’s an experience they’ll never get. I mean, who gets to go to Jerry’s World and get on the field?”

Kirby said he believes Patrick and Scott are the first two Covington players to take part in the event. He also stressed that both players are being recruited and are good students.

“We’ve got some kids with the opportunity to go and play somewhere. One thing we’re stressing here is if you want the opportunity to play at the next level you have to have the grades. We’ve had some kids, maybe in the past, who had great athletic ability but didn’t always take schoolwork seriously until somebody came knocking and it’s too late.”
