Covington vice mayor Johnetta Yarbrough wants to make changes.

Knowing there’s a need to bridge the communication gap between the residents of District 1, which she represents, and law enforcement, she and others have organized a Unity in the Community event set for Saturday, June 29.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Frazier Park and will be a peaceful day of food, fellowship, information, music and fun.

“More importantly, this event is an urgent attempt to unite our neighborhoods and make them safe again,” Yarbrough said. “The ultimate goal is to reshape our community by reducing crime and mending broken relationships.”

For more information, call Yarbrough at 901-605-9145, Ayanna Dowell at 901-361-8807 or Eboni Eaton at 901-326-0214.
