Someone has been posting indecent photos on social media of girls at Munford and Brighton high schools and the police are looking into the matter.

The morning announcements at Munford High School Thursday warned students about the issue and the Tipton School Board sent out voicemails and text messages to parents about it yesterday afternoon.

Director of Schools Dr. John Combs said Munford principal Dr. Courtney Fee alerted him about the problem yesterday.

According to Combs, it looks like some girls have sent pictures of themselves to somebody and, one way or another, those photos have been reposted on Snapchat using burner accounts.

“My understanding if a student had sent that picture out on their own, like to a boyfriend or whoever, these folks were able to grab a hold of those pictures and post them again on their account acting like they were somebody else,” Combs said.

He said he’s not sure if the person or people posting the photos are students in Tipton County.

“It could be anybody,” he said. “If there’s anything that was done at school then obviously we would deal with that, but it’s my understanding that it’s mostly kids on social media doing it outside of school. We don’t really have any control over that. All we can do is alert the parents about what’s going on.”

Munford Police Chief Randal Baskin said his department is investigating and has already interviewed mulitple people.

“We’re trying to figure out who started this whole thing,” he said.
