Four years, four losses.

That’s the unfortunate recent history for the Covington Lady Chargers and sectional games. They’ve finished one win from state each of the last four seasons.

Covington will be looking to break that streak Saturday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Jackson South Side with a berth in next week’s Class AA state tournament in Murfreesboro going to the winner.

The Lady Chargers earned the right to host Saturday’s game by beating Bolivar 3-1 for the region title.

Bolivar led Covington 1-0 Wednesday when the game was postponed because of rain and continued yesterday. The break seemed to serve the Lady Chargers’ offense well.

Brinley Cousar, Kalynn Howard and Charleigh Cole each drove in a run and Leah Beasley, McKenzie Richardson, Lauren Vickery and Brooke Johnson each added key hits in the win.
