The county published its delinquent tax notice in this week’s issue of The Leader and a Mason alderman owes a significant amount in back taxes.

Alaa “Eddie” Noeman, a businessman and property owner who was elected alderman in November, owes the Town of Mason and Tipton County $57,055.70 in delinquent property taxes for the 2013-2016 tax years.

The taxes owed cover 13 different properties.

Two of those are the gas station and convenience store he owned at the corner of highways 59 and 70, which burned down after a semi truck ran through them on May 24, 2018. Chapter 11 bankruptcy was filed for these properties on Aug. 24, 2018 in Tennessee Western Bankruptcy Court.

The remaining properties are varied and situated on Hwy. 70, Main Street, Old Gainesville Road and Finde Naifeh Drive:

  • Lot on Hwy. 70 – $4,063.53
  • 26 acres on Hwy. 70 – $5,286.02
  • Lot on Main Street – $2,834.59
  • Lot on Hwy. 70 West, Old Gainesville Road subdivision – $6,011.22
  • Lot on Hwy. 70 West – $3,367.24
  • Lot on Main Street – $1,025.69
  • Lot on Hwy. 70 East – $3,883.82
  • 10 acres on Finde Naifeh Drive – $5,927.31
  • Lot on Hwy. 70 East – $2,220.06
  • Lot on Hwy. 70 – $1,863.11
  • Dollar Mart Grocery & Wholesale Co. LLC – $10,962.64
  • Dollar Mart Grocery & Wholesale Co. LLC – $11,743.05

According to records from the Tipton County trustee’s office, taxes have not yet been paid on these properties for the 2017 and 2018 tax years.

His properties have frequently been included in the delinquent tax listings published, as required by law, in The Leader every year. Delinquent taxes led to the advertisement of scheduled auctions for the Finde Naifeh acreage in September 2016 and the gas station in October 2016.

If left unpaid, the properties could go up for auction.
