It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon! The weather has been so great – we’ve had the windows up!

South of us, Hurricane Irma is just getting to Florida. Prayers for everyone and the rescuers who are there to help, especially from our area.

This week’s Farm Report:  We tried to shell some corn yesterday but the moisture was too high. We’re back in the field today; hope they can keep running. Cotton is popping open and soybeans continue to turn yellow!

We had a good Labor Day, joining Clint, Courtney and Caroline at Paula Baker’s home in Idaville for grilled chicken, Clint’s duck bites wrapped in bacon, beans, tater salad, Krispie Treats and banana pudding. She’s Chuck Baker’s mom, Clint’s friend, and we were glad to meet her and see her beautiful place.

I went to the ortho doctor Tuesday and got a cortisone shot and am wearing a brace on my knee. This injury goes back almost 10 years ago when I fell trying to catch a runaway Jeep that had jumped from park to reverse in the driveway! I may possibly have an MRI this week.

James got a clear scan on his heart and we are so happy!

Friday night Dianne Nutt, Ann Huggins, Michelle Nowak and I ate supper together then everyone but Ann saw “Home Again” with Reese Witherspoon. It was a good movie and a fun night!

On our prayer list at the Covington Church of Christ are Tina Whaley, taking treatments, Bobby Curtis, in rehab and so many friends and relatives of our members and all of our servicemen and women.

The Tennessee Children’s Home truck  will be here October 10 to pick up items. The birthday party at River Terrace will be on the 16th at 2 p.m. The Devotional at Covington Care will be at 4 p.m. on the 17th, following a CIA Devotional at the building.

Sympathy is extended Mandy Billings in the death of her father-in-law Phillip Billings. And I lost my cousin, Mike Goheen, 51, to a heart attack in Dayton, Ohio. Prayers for these families.

Happy birthday this week goes to Kristie Maxwell and Shirley Laxton on Sept.12, to Bonnie Glass on the 13th, to Christie Coughlan on the 14th, to Jake Hodge on the 15th and to Alan Clark and Ashley Bringle on the 16th.

Happy anniversary to David and Sherri Kidd on Sept. 12 and to Matt and Kristin Sallee on the 13th!

Happy birthday at Clopton United Methodist Church to Kolbie Carter on Sept. 2, to Terry Gray and Ben Johnson on the 3rd, to Joyce Baskin on the 4th, to Mark Wright on the 7th, to Derek Spradling on the 8th, to Doris Twisdale on the 10th, to Mistie Carver and Dalton Roberts on the 13th and to Mickey Johnson on the 14th!

Beginning next Sunday they will have a Bible Study for all ages from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on the Gospel of Luke. Children’s Ministry classes will resume Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.

“Thanks for Reading” this week goes to the Smith Family – Enoch, Phyllis and Mazie! Sa-lute!

This week’s Farmer’s Almanac Quote:  “Perfect love sometimes doesn’t come until the first grandchild.” Welsh proverb

I agree!

Until next week . . .
