It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, in the mid-sixties. There is no rain to report this week and it’s really getting dry.

This week’s Farm Report:  Soybean farmers are starting to wrap it up but when you drive by a field they are combining you can’t see the combine for the dust! I haven’t seen any cotton pickers running yet but cotton is really pretty this year.

I have more doctor appointments this week. I found out I need surgery on my knee for a torn meniscus but the doctor really didn’t push it because the pain may be mostly caused by arthritis. Yay! I am still considering stem cell shots.

Michelle Nowak and I had our “Birthmas” luncheon at Court Square on Tuesday. Her birthday is mid-November so we usually just celebrate both of ours around now and that’s what we named it. It was a great time, with great food and conversation!

Clint, Courtney, Caroline, Elizabeth, Justin and Lyla were all here for Thanksgiving. Justin fries our turkey so I fix the dressing and sweet potatoes. Courtney and Liz brought the sides and I made desserts. It was a wonderful day!

I have all the decorating done inside the house.  I can’t wait to put lights on the playhouse!

Our prayer list at the Covington Church of Christ is, unfortunately, the same as last week. The list is so long I’ll just add Houston Hall, Jackson Hughey and Tina Whaley, and all of our servicemen and women.

Sympathy is extended to Judy Randolph in the death of her aunt, Jean Russell, and to the Melton family in the sudden death of Sandra Melton. Covington lost a great man last night, Wayne Culver. All of these families are in our prayers.

Happy birthday this week goes to Kelley Melton on Nov. 26, to Jim Edmonds and Charlene Dalrymple on the 27th, to Braxton Brown on the 28th, to Vicki Mayfield on the 29th, to Bailey Daniels on the 30th and to Joshua Evins on Dec. 2!

Ladies Dinner and Movie group is going to The Ruffin Theater Saturday night for Elf Jr. Have snowmen items in by the 3rd and backpack items in by Dec. 10.

Happy birthday at Clopton United Methodist Church to Larry Reynolds on Nov. 26, to Justin Johnson on the 27th, to Tanner Twisdale on the 29th, to Brittany Atkins, Johnny Leach and Michaela Lyles on the 30th and to Tamara McClelland on Dec. 1!

Their monthly Men’s Breakfast is this Saturday, the 2nd from 7 – 9 a.m., all you can eat for a donation. Young at Heart Group will go to Side Porch on Wednesday, the 13th at 11:30 a.m. Dirty Santa will be played and Secret Pals revealed.

Youth are having a pork loin dinner on Dec. 10 at the old Brighton High School gym. Tickets are $10 a plate.

Bring items to the church basement for the silent auction and Santa! Poinsettias will be sold untl the 3rd.

This week’s Farmer’s Almanac Quote:  “Beeswax candles are drip-free and last longer than paraffin.”

Covington Chargers are state-bound! Yay!

Until next week . . .
