To start off spring break, the Munford High School choir program took to the road with three choirs and 120 students to Jackson  to perform in Jackson’s Choral Festival.

The entire festival saw more than 40 choirs perform throughout the day and featured adjudicators from the top universities in Tennessee and Mississippi. Munford’s women’s choir (a brand new choir at the school this year) received a superior rating, the highest rating a choir can receive. The concert choir, an ensemble made up mostly of freshman and sophomores, took home top honors receiving a superior rating and a sweepstakes award, meaning they received the highest possible score from all of the judges. The Advanced Choir also received top honors receiving a superior rating and a sweepstakes award.

Both the concert choir and the advanced choir have been invited to perform at this year’s Tennessee State Festival, which is an invitation extended to only the top choirs in the state.

On March 27 the Munford High School advanced choir departed bright and early for the sunny city of Orlando to participate in the nationally recognized Festival Disney.

The choir, along with more than 25 other musical high school groups, traveled to Orlando for the two-day festival, competing against choirs from all across the nation. The choir also had the privilege to receive adjudication and clinics from some of the best music educators in America.

After the festival was over, the choir program brought home second place in their class and eighth place overall, receiving a superior rating, the highest a musical ensemble can receive.
